Sorry about the trouble.

Welcome to Merry Bears.

Teddy bears bring warmth to one's heart. No matter they look cheerful or sad, naughty or serious, they can always bring a smile to your face. So I call my bruins Merry Bears.

My name is Annei Leung. I live in Hong Kong, a city truely never sleep. Spending time to make teddy bears stitch by stitch is a real luxury in this busy place. But I still like to do it all by myself, bringing each little one to life with loving touch.

Unlike most artists, my interest in teddy bear did not start until end 2001 when I made my first bear. Then like what happened to every bear artist, I was addicted to it and cannot stop.

I am very luckily to have full support of my husband. On top of his tolerance of fur spreading almost everywhere at home, I would like to specially thank him for taking beautiful photos of my bears. He really helps the Merry Bears to express themselves. (My husband's name is Michael Ho so I shall be Annei Ho. But working women in Hong Kong seldom use their husband's name. It is difficult for the westerners to understand.)

I love entering competition because that is the best way to push me on with my bearmaking. The nominations and awards are the real fuel for my engine. In my short history of teddy bear artistry, I quite a number of nominations & awards in prestigious international competitions in Japan, UK & USA. The teddy bears bring me a chance, or you can call it an excuse, to travel worldwide and meet new friends.

My training in design helps me to be sensitive to colours and texture as well as to be somewhat experimental. You may notice that my bears are quite different one from the other. I try to bring out the character of each piece of mohair, do something different, rather than repeating the same pattern. Up to now, I still believe that each bear is an individual, not just a trademark of me.

The ones in the 'New Bears' pages are available while the adopted are shown in 'Gallery'. I used to make one of a kind only but my husband feels so sad when my bears need to go - they usually watch TV with us after 'birth' and are like members of our family. Therefore, now I make small limited edition so that one of each can stay with us.

However, due to heavy workload in my interior design jobs, my progress in teddy bear creation is rather slow. But do come back from time to time and you will probably be able to meet some newcomers. Or I can let you know when I have new designs. Just simply LEAVE A CONTACT here.

Please also CLICK here for the shows I will attend. Hope to meet you there.
